From Chaos to Calm: Transforming a Busy London Office with Acoustic Glass

Acoustic Glass Case Studies

In London, the hustle and bustle never stops. Our client was looking to divide space in their workplace that offered some retreat from the daily grind, finding calm through our acoustic glass office partitions.

Glass Partitioning Installation

The Challenge

For this acoustic glass partitioning installation in London, we faced two primary challenges.

  1. First, our client needed to address office acoustic issues to create a quiet workspace. They wanted a place where employees could concentrate or take a break without distractions. The space was adjacent to the main staircase, which meant constant footfall and general staircase traffic was all noise that needed to be mitigated.
  2. Second, the space that was to be divided had an unusual shape. This irregularity meant that our client needed a solution that would not only offer noise protection, but also maximise the available space to the best of its ability.

Following an initial discussion and comprehensive site survey, we specified the ideal system to meet our client’s requirements.

The Solution

To tackle these challenges, we installed acoustic glass partitioning, using acoustic laminated glass that measured 12.8mm in thickness. This specialised glass wall offers significant sound control, reducing room-to-room sound transfer by up to 40 dB. It was pivotal to creating a focused work environment for our client, even in an area close to the staircase.

The framed glass partition walls feature smart black (RAL 9005) profiles to create a contemporary interior design.

We then installed a glass door with a matching aluminium frame, black steel drop seals and a black lever latch lock. The drop seal plays an important role in the overall acoustic performance by creating a tight seal when the door is closed. This prevents sound from leaking through gaps.
