Creating A Scandinavian Office Hub

Banded Glass Case Studies

The Challenge

The task was to transform an awkward corner space opposite the stairs into a Scandinavian-inspired haven of productivity; providing both functionality and aesthetic appeal. The client needed a quiet, private office that allowed team members to focus and get their heads down in peace. At the same time, it was essential not to block the natural light pouring in from the large windows, as this would brighten up the wider room and contribute to a more open, positive working environment.

Balancing these elements—creating a sense of privacy without compromising the space’s openness and natural light—was key to the challenge. Additionally, the design had to reflect the modern, sleek aesthetic expected of a central London office, where first impressions matter.

The Solution

To meet our client’s goals, we combined their existing warm, natural wood finishes with the sharp, clean lines of banded glass to cultivate a welcoming yet sophisticated atmosphere.

We chose a black banded glass partition as it allows light to flow through and offers the necessary level of privacy and sound insulation, while also making it a standout feature. Here’s a breakdown of the benefits for our client:

  • Private Office: The glass partition provides excellent acoustic qualities, ensuring the space is quiet and ideal for focused work. By opting for glass it offers privacy while still keeping the office connected. Depending on the requirements clients can choose from a single glazed, double glazed, or acoustic glass for banded glass which all offer different levels of noise transmission. Single glazed glass has a 33dB rating, double glazed has a 40dB rating and our acoustic glazing offers 46-50dB. Whilst we can give you some of the very best sound performance you won’t ever be able to reach 100% sound insulation due to external factors.
  • Modern Office: The sleek, minimalist design of banded glass partitions delivers a contemporary feel that fits with the expectations of a London-based office. The space makes a strong, stylish first impression which is critical when showing around new clients or future employees. Banded glass continues to be a trending option, as its simplicity blends in easily with a variety of environments. We have an experienced team on hand which makes anything a possibility for your space – whether it’s bricks, wiring columns, or lights they are no problem for our team!
  • Natural Light: By using a glass partition we maximise the amount of natural light entering the workspace. Studies have shown that natural light boosts productivity, improves focus and enhances overall well-being, contributing to a more positive work environment. Ensuring ample natural light was a key priority for our client, as it aligns with their vision for a healthier, more engaging workspace for employees.
  • Eco-Friendly Solution: The glass used in the partition is made from renewable materials and is 100% recyclable. This eco-conscious choice reflects the client’s ongoing commitment to sustainability and reducing their environmental footprint. By opting for materials that can be repurposed or recycled at the end of their lifecycle, the project not only promotes sustainable practices but also aligns with global efforts toward greener construction solutions.

In the end, the design successfully transformed a tricky corner into a functional, aesthetically pleasing office space that ticks all the boxes for our client —privacy, modern look, natural light, and eco-consciousness.

But what is Banded Glass?

As you’ll be able to see from the pictures banded glass has a distinctive look – it’s a popular choice within offices, retail, restaurants and more!

It uses an aluminium framework around the outside, with intersecting UVPC bars, which creates its classic look.

Although black is our most popular colour we also have other options, including white and grey, meaning you can fit it in and around your current style choices.

When it comes to glazing options you can choose from single glazed, double glazed or acoustic glass, but each will have its own acoustic qualities.
