We love maximising office space to its full potential, and this project in Gateshead is a key example of this. Explore the details below to see how we turned this challenge into an opportunity with glass walls and doors.
We were asked to help revitalise a deserted and underused space in the corner of our client’s office. When faced with areas like this it can be hard to re-imagine how the space could work differently. But our team thrives on challenges like this because there’s always a way we can make your office areas work better for you!
From the start, we knew that this specific area didn’t lend itself to an open-plan working environment as it was isolated from the main workspace. So the challenge for us was to transform this area into a usable space, which delivers practicalities for everyone in the company, turning a forgotten corner into a hub of productivity. Picking glass walls and doors for offices may seem overwhelming but when you break it down into the following areas you should be able to figure out what would be a good fit.
Our team concluded that this space would be perfect for a meeting room which is accessible and versatile for everyone in the office to use. Our goal was to create a space with glass office walls and doors that felt connected to the office yet provided the privacy needed for focused meetings.
To ensure that this new room didn’t feel even more closed off the client opted for a frameless 10mm safety toughened glass partition complete with internal glass doors with glass. The choice of frameless glass ensured that the room maintained an open feel, while the glass allowed natural light to flood through, keeping the space bright and welcoming.
Black was a bit too bold for this environment, so it was decided that a silver finish on the tracking and handle would better complement the existing office decor, providing a sleek and modern aesthetic, without overwhelming the space.
This new meeting space now allows our client to have a useful and private space for both internal and external meetings, serving as a valuable addition to the office. When installed the single-paned glass office walls and doors give you 33dB of sound protection, helping to muffle conversations, but loud conversations will still be heard.
If you’d like to increase privacy we recommend that you opt for our acoustic glass which can protect up to 50dB, protecting from very loud conversations. You can enhance the room’s functionality even further, by opting for drop seals on any internal glass doors. These also help to reduce sound transmission from room to room, meaning private conversations can be kept under wraps.
By incorporating glass walls and doors it also allows for light to flow throughout, which is crucial in maintaining an airy and open atmosphere. This not only enhances the room’s appeal but also contributes to a more pleasant and productive working environment.
Our single-glazed glass is a great option for multiple spaces as it complements most environments. This includes older buildings which have heritage features, where we’ve been able to seamlessly blend the old with the new to create a cohesive design.
On this glass, we’ll also be applying some glass manifestation, in which spots will be applied to the glass in sticker form. These are also known as DDA Dots. These dots are applied centrally, usually as a safety feature, to prevent accidental collisions into the partition and interior doors with glass. Importantly the application also doesn’t affect the performance or quality of the glass, ensuring that safety and functionality go hand in hand.
In summary, our team has years of experience which will help pinpoint what kind of solution will be best for you, whether that be single, double, sliding or framed glass partitions. Our dedication to quality and attention to detail ensures that each project meets our client’s needs while enhancing the overall office environment.
