The Challenge

As this project was for a school, a huge importance was placed on acoustics. Across the education sector, certain sound requirements need to be met to ensure a building offers the best learning opportunities to students. Acoustics have a huge impact on learning ability as they can increase concentration levels, speech clarity during lessons and minimise distractions.

The Solution

To combat the project’s specific sound requirements, we installed 12.8mm acoustic glass partitioning. Whilst our single and double glazed glass counterparts can provide an element of sound treatment, pairing them with acoustic glass means the fixed partitions can achieve a further 50% noise reduction. For our client, this meant confidential conversations could be held and discussions could be had in confidence.

When it comes to acoustics, doors are often a weak point, however we do have a few tricks up our sleeve to improve sound performance. In this project, we installed glass doors with frames and drop seals. This helps conceal noise and create a private office space within the school.

The glass partitioning installation was fitted with a frosted banded, providing visual privacy for teachers and other staff as they worked in their new glass workspace. The acoustic glass partitions were fitted into a RAL 9006 silver perimeter track for a professional finish.
